Questions
Where do these companies come from?
From the building permits the city publishes as open data. A company is on the list when it was named as the contractor on at least one permit for this type of work in the last 90 days, ranked by how many such jobs it did. That ranking can't be bought.
Can companies add themselves?
Yes. A company can add its own entry with the price it asks for a typical job. Those entries are shown at the top, always marked “Added by the company”, and the prices are the company's own. Companies that don't want to be listed can remove themselves.
What do the prices mean?
Each permit states a project value: what the contractor declared to the city for that job. We show the lowest, typical (median) and highest value per company. It is a good guide to what a job costs, but the final price is often somewhat higher.
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay $29 once and keep the list: it stays in your account and you get it as a spreadsheet by email.
Why no reviews or ratings?
The list shows what companies actually did — how many jobs, how recent, how big — not opinions. Ask the companies you shortlist for references and check their license with the city.
Are homeowners' details included?
No. The list is about the companies. It contains no property addresses and no information about the people who hired them.
